'Faithful & Welcoming'
Mission Statement
Copyright Peacechurchinchrist.com 2009
Peace Church was established in Browntown in September 1887. We give thanks to all who have gone before us upholding the gospel enabling us to continue their faithfulness.
We are a conservative evangelical church holding fast to traditional Christian beliefs and creeds. We believe that Scriptures are the inspired word of God for all time and that our actions should reflect this. We believe that salvation can only be obtained by God's grace through belief in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the confession of sin, and the assurance of pardon. We promise to uphold the sacraments of baptism and communion and believe in the sanctity of marriage between a man and a woman as ordained by Christ.
We promise to be a faithful and welcoming Church in Christ and commit ourselves to further God's Kingdom wherever we are and to minister to those in need.

Pastor Hale and his wife Jan

They are from an area very close to Chattanooga, TN; where Steve was the chaplain for Signature Healthcare.  He ministered at The Bridge at Monteagle.  You may be very familiar with Monteagel if you have ever driven to Florida.  Monteagle is that stretch of highway where you see many run-away truck ramps on your left as you are coasting down the mountain!

Before serving at Monteagle, Steve was pastor at The Turning Point Church in Dickson, TN; an interdenominational church Steve  and Jan founded to minister to the many treatment and rehab centers there.  He has also pastored traditional family ministries in conservative Methodist Churches.

Steve has been in the ministry most of his life.  His first paid position was at the age of just 16 where he was Minister of Music at Forest Home Reformed Church in Muskegon, MI.  Steve and Jan are both from the Muskegon area.  So, this is almost like coming home for them.  They look forward to moving closer to grandchildren in Grand Rapids, MI.
Steve has earned a bachelor’s in music education, and both a master’s and doctorate in religious education.  Still, Dr. Hale prefers to be called “Pastor”.
